Capital to get in the saddle for Bike Week – 16th to 24th June

Dublin celebrates Bike Week 2012 with a full programme of events from 16th to 24th June. The Bike Week programme includes bike-themed events for people of all ages and fitness levels throughout the city and county. These include family cycling events, a conference looking at issues like encouraging more women to cycle, a group cycle for active older groups, films, exhibitions and cycle training.

Dublin’s Lord Mayor Andrew Montague is inviting everyone to join him in taking part in the main event:  Dublin City Council’s Lunchtime Bike Ride which starts in Grand Canal Dock at 1pm on Wednesday 20th June.  This free-to-enter event saw over 1,250 people enjoy a leisurely lunchtime cycle around Dublin last year. The first 500 people to register this year get goodie bags and everyone registering is entered into a draw for an AppleiPad3.To register see

Dublin Bike Week is part of National Bike Week. It is organised by the Dublin Local Authorities, State Agencies and various cycling organisations.
